CAIRO – 12 August 2023: A few days ago, Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi ordered continuing the enhancement of the role of the national donation-based Tahya Misr Fund as a complement to the state’s efforts in achieving sustainable development.

Sisi ordered enhancing the fund’s role in supporting the vulnerable groups and improving their living standards.

Sisi also ordered supporting the fund in enhancing the vulnerable groups’ capabilities in facing societal challenges in partnership with the government bodies, the civil society groups and the private sector.

Tahya Misr Fund was established in 2014 to support national economy, overcome the hard economic circumstances and achieve social justice.

9-year achievements

Tamer Abdel Fattah, Executive Director of Tahya Misr Fund, sheds light on the fund’s achievements over the past decade:

-The fund has been keen to organize social protection convoys to protect the vulnerable in Egyptian villages, especially remote ones,

- Social protection convoys have extended to the remote areas of Siwa, Halayeb, Shalateen, St. Catherine, Bir Abd, Rafah, Arish, Bahariya Oasis and Sidi Barrani.

- The convoys aimed at providing food aid, blankets and luggage to the vulnerable, raising the efficiency of their housing units and improving the quality of their lives.

- The fund provided two million clothing items, shoes, furnishings, accessories, cooking utensils, toys for children and various stationery, benefiting about 675,000 beneficiaries in the areas most in need.

- The fund organized fairs to offer new clothes in public universities, providing more than 375,000 items of clothing and personal care supplies for 125,000 male and female students, for whom a social case study was prepared.

- The fund’s Dokkan Al-Farha (Joy Shop) provided 2,000 girls, especially adult orphans and people of determination, with marriage requirements.

- The fund’s Bel Hana Wel Shefa initiative provided to the vulnerable 52,000 tons of food materials, 1,020 tons of meat, 2,500 tons of pourtly, 1,646 tons of vegetables and fruits, 3 million ready meals, 4.8 million candy packages as well as juice, milk and canned items.

- Beneficiaries of Bel Hana Wel Shefa Initiative total around 24 million citizens in the different governorates.

- The fund allocated LE 1 billion for the early detection of vision impairment and loss for around 1.4 million citizens and primary school students.

- The fund also provided 1,500 dialysis machines, 1,000 chairs for patients, 350 baby incubators and 3,563 assistive devices.

- Tahya Misr Fund has achieved six Guinness records for charity work in 2020 and 2021.
