Sisi stresses Egypt's keenness on furthering cooperation with Serbia

CAIRO - 8 August 2023: President Abdel Fattah El Sisi has asserted Egypt's keenness on enhancing cooperation with Serbia in various domains, especially in the defense field.

He added that Egypt is looking forward to activating partnership between the two countries, highlighting the deeply-rooted historic ties between the two sides.

Sisi made the remarks during a meeting on Tuesday with Serbian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Miloš Vučić in the presence of Egyptian Defense Minister Mohamed Zaki.

The talks tackled means of enhancing bilateral cooperation in the military and security fields.

The talks also reviewed a host of international issues of mutual concern, especially the Russian-Ukrainian crisis and its geopolitical and economic repercussions.

Sisi conveyed greetings to the Serbian president who in turn entitled Vučić to forward greetings to the Egyptian president.

Vučić lauded Egyptian-Serbian relations, especially in light of Sisi's visit to Serbia in July 2022 that gave momentum to bilateral relations.

He commended the growing and effective Egyptian role at the regional and international levels.

He also highlighted Egypt's efforts to combat terrorism at the regional level in addition to promoting stability, security and development. He praised urban development in Egypt.
