CAIRO – 15 July 2023: Egypt’s Ministry of Interior has granted two exceptional visits for prisoners on the occasion of the Hijri New Year and the 23rd of July Revolution.

The two exceptional visits are valid from 22 July to 21 September, the Ministry of Interior said in a statement on Saturday.

The exceptional visits come in light of the ministry’s keenness to provide all forms of support and care for the inmates in rehabilitation and correction centers and to also support them psychologically by allowing them to see their relatives on different occasions, the ministry said.

The ministry also highlighted its keenness to uphold the values of human rights, apply the penal policy through a modern approach and provide all forms of care to the inmates.

Last week, Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli announced Thursday, July 20, an official holiday for civil servants and the private and public business sectors, marking the occasion of the first day of the Hijri New Year.

He also announced Sunday, July 23, an official holiday to celebrate the 1952 Revolution anniversary.
