CAIRO – 10 July 2023: Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has congratulated each of Burundi and the Bahamas on their independence days.

On these occasions, Sisi sent cables of congratulations to his Burundian counterpart, President Evariste Ndayishimiye, and Governor General of the Bahamas Cornelius A. Smith.

Burundi Independence Day is an official holiday celebrated annually on 1 July, commemorating the country’s independence from Belgium in 1962.

Meanwhile, the Bahamas in the northwestern West Indies celebrates its Independence Day every year on 10 July to mark the day when it separated from the United Kingdom in 1973.
