CAIRO – 6 July 2023: Egyptian Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Multilateral Affairs and International Security Ihab Badawi met with Hungarian Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Péter Sztáray, and his accompanying delegation on Wednesday.

The meeting came as part of the delegation's visit to Cairo to consult on the most important issues of common concern, including multilateral international action, according to a statement by the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

"The consultations dealt with issues of the United Nations system, including peacekeeping and peace-building efforts, reform of the UN Security Council, as well as issues of disarmament and nuclear non-proliferation," the statement added.

The statement continued that consultations also tackled threats to the international security environment, and prospects for joint action towards establishing international peace and security as a common interest.

The Egyptian Assistant Foreign Minister reviewed the national efforts combating illegal immigration towards Europe from the Egyptian borders, as well as efforts to combat terrorism, with the aim of achieving peace and establishing stability in the region.

Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shokry headed to the Hungarian capital, Budapest, on May 29, 2023, to hold talks with his counterpart on bolstering cooperation and coordinating stances on regional and international matters of mutual concern.

During their joint press conference in February at Al-Itihadiyah Presidential Palace, President Abdel Fatah El-Sisi stated that he had agreed with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban on expanding trade exchange.

The top Egyptian exports to Hungary are cotton, vegetables, fruits, cement, fertilizers, and carpets. As for the top imports from Hungary, they are electronic devices, glass, aluminum, fuel, rubber, and organic chemicals.
