The "Fakhr al-Qanat" is added-value for the arsenal’s capabilities in the field of repair and maintenance of ships and one of large marine units in light of the authority's strategy to diversify sources of income by providing additional services to ships transiting the canal, Rabie said.

The new floating dock is the latest addition to the Port Said marine arsenal, which includes three other floating docks used in the maintenance and repair of ships and marine units of the Authority, Rabie added.WhatsApp Image 2023-07-01 at 9.00.18 AM

The floating dock is 260 meters in length, and 62 meters in width, with a hull that reaches 18 meters and 35,000 tons, the SCA chief said.

In a press conference held on June 21, 2023, Rabie said that the SCA is building 28 tugboats, including four that were completed in the Port Said marine arsenal with a tugging power of 70 tons each. Six other tugboats will be constructed in cooperation with the Chinese Guangzhou Automobile Group Co., Ltd.

Ten more tugboats, with a tugging power of 90 tons each, will be built. This is in addition to two rescue tugboats with a power of 190 tons each, and six small tugging vessels with a tugging power ranging from 9 to 15 tons.

"The rate of accident occurrence in the canal does not exceed 0.09 percent, which is a very small percentage considering the annual transit rates,"Rabie explained.
