Egypt welcomes restoring diplomatic representation between Qatar, UAE

CAIRO – 19 June 2023: Egypt welcomed the announcement of the United Arab Emirates and Qatar on the restoration of diplomatic representation between them by resuming the work at the Embassy of the UAE in Doha, and at the Embassy of Qatar in Abu Dhabi and its consulate in Dubai as of Monday.

In a statement released by the Foreign Ministry, Egypt termed such step as "positive" on the track of enhancing joint Arab action and entrenching Arab unity, asserting its full support to all efforts aimed at beefing up inter-Arab relations at all levels with the aim of protecting the common interests of Arab peoples.

Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs; and Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Qatari Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, exchanged congratulations on resuming the work of both countries' embassies on Monday.

Sheikh Abdullah welcomed this vital step, which establishes a new stage of cooperation and partnership between the UAE and Qatar, and affirms the depth of brotherly relations between the two countries and their peoples, according to WAM News Agency.

During a phone call, the officials discussed fraternal relations and means of strengthening cooperation to achieve their mutual interests. They also exchanged views on a number of issues of common concern, in addition to regional and international developments.
