First batch of Egyptian plasma-derived medicine arrives from Spain

CAIRO - 8 June 2023: The first shipment of the human albumin medicine, which was manufactured from Egyptian plasma in Grifols plant in Spain, arrived in Cairo Thursday.

The plasma was collected at the plasma donation centers of the Grifols Egypt. The human albumin contributes to the provision of one of the most important medicines used in emergencies, intensive care, burns, liver and kidney diseases, and many other pathological conditions.

The project by the Egyptian Armed Forces comes in the framework of upgrading the medical system per the latest international standards in the medical and therapeutic fields. 

This also comes as per an agreement signed by the National Service Projects Authority of the Armed Forces with Spanish company Grifols in November 2020 to return the plasma in the form of plasma-derived medications.

Egypt will receive more batches of these drugs in line with the rates of plasma donation.
