CAIRO - 8 June 2023: The report of the Senate Financial Affairs and Investment Committee shed light on the economic and social development plan for the year 2023/2024 in the field of human and social development, explaining that the plan aims to reduce the population growth rate to 1.64 percent at the end of the plan.

The parliamentary report indicates that the development plan aims to increase the percentage of beneficiaries from the health insurance system, and contain the inflation rate so that it declines to 16 percent in 2023/2024.

The report of the Senate Financial Affairs and Investment Committee confirms that the development plan for the new fiscal year aims to reduce the proportion of the population that is below the poverty line.

The plan also aims to reduce economic and social disparities between the various regions of the republic, so that the gaps in poverty rates do not exceed 20 percentage points between the provinces.

The Minister of Planning, Dr. Hala Al-Saeed, had delivered a statement on the draft development plan for the new fiscal year, explaining the most important pillars on which the 2024/23 plan was based, foremost of which is full commitment to the goals of the axes of the National Human Rights Strategy, in confirmation of the right to development that the Egyptian state attaches importance to.
