Photos: 23 injured as fire breaks out in gov’t services building in Cairo

CAIRO – 29 May 2023: 23 people were injured as a fire broke out in the government services building in Cairo’s 15th of May city on Monday.

In a statement, Cairo governorate’s central operations chamber said the fire resulted from an electrical short circuit, affirming that the fire has caused no deaths.

The civil protection units managed to put out the fire and cooling operations are underway, the governorate said.

Governor of Cairo Khaled Abdel Aal decided to form an engineering committee to examine the afflicted building and assess the extent of damage caused by the fire.

The governor also ordered removal of the signs of damage caused by the fire after the Public Prosecution concludes its examination of the building to disclose the causes of the fire.
