CAIRO - 25 May 2023: The Egyptian Law for the Protection and Development of Lakes and Fisheries included a number of goals for the Authority of the Protection and Development of Lakes and Fisheries.
Among the goals are: the development of a general policy for the protection and development of lakes, their prevention of encroachment and pollution, and putting them into practice and developing them.
In the below lines, et reviews the objectives of the agency, according to what is stated in the law:
The agency aims to protect, develop and exploit lakes, beaches and sanctuaries, and to protect and develop fish wealth and aquatic organisms with a view to developing the national economy.
In order to achieve its objectives, the agency may carry out whatever actions it deems necessary, in particular the following:
- Laying down the general policy for the protection and development of lakes and shores, in addition to preventing them from encroachment and pollution, putting them into practice, and developing them.
- Exploiting the capabilities of the lakes, beaches, resources, and conducting the necessary research and studies, in addition to seeking assistance from other specialized agencies, whether national or foreign.
- Working to protect and develop fish wealth and its sources, and supervise the implementation of fishing laws and decisions implementing them.
- Developing plans related to fish wealth and fish processing projects, developing their designs, and implementing what the governorates or the relevant authorities request of these projects, either by themselves or through other parties.
