CAIRO - 23 May 2023: Representative of the World Health Organization (WHO) in Egypt, Dr. Naima Al-Qaseer, denied the existence of any new virus.
She explained that Dr. Tedros Adhanom Gebrisius, Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO), was referring to the need to prepare for any health emergency or viruses that may appear soon, in order to prevent future pandemics.
And she said, during the closing ceremony of the media training program on covering the Corona pandemic and health emergencies, which was held Tuesday in Cairo, that viruses exist and we must adapt, as they are constantly mutating, so we must confront these viruses with prevention methods.
She added that the end of the health emergency with regard to the Corona virus does not mean that the epidemic has ended, or that the precautionary measures will be abandoned, explaining that the organization agrees with member states to report any health emergency or future pandemic, in order to protect health security worldwide.
She pointed out that viruses exist all the time, but we must protect ourselves, and that what we are currently facing is bacteria resistance to antibiotics, stressing the importance of families not buying antibiotics from the pharmacy unless it is prescribed.
Dr. Naima Al-Qaseer said that about 120 male and female journalists have been trained on covering the Corona pandemic, explaining that the Corona pandemic has proven that viruses do not stop spreading, but when we are ready and prepared for pandemics, they can be prevented, noting that the organization is holding its sessions in Geneva.
She said that we should use artificial intelligence in the right place, because it can be harmful to us when we misuse it.
Al-Qaseer further said that Egypt has distinguished teams of doctors in hospitals affiliated with the Ministry of Health, and given that Egypt is one of the largest countries in the region, we must work to improve behaviors and know how to deliver the correct messages.
