PARIS - 18 July 2017: Elements of France's DGSI internal intelligence agency found evidence several years ago that Qatar was behind the training of French youths at camps located in Tunis and Libya's Darna city, said the DGSI former head.

These remarks were made on the sidelines of a conference, dubbed Qatari investments in Europe: politics and terrorism.

According to the French former official, Qatar was funding the training of these young men before travelling to Turkey, from which they head to Syria and Iraq for jihad.

The DGSI officers had submitted a report on the matter to France's decision-makers, he said, noting that they did not take action as Qatar was dominating large investments in Europe, particularly during the rule of former president Nicolas Sarkozy.
