CAIRO - 17 May 2023: The law specifies the penalty for anyone who prepares or manages a place to house, collect, or transport smuggled unregistered migrants, or facilitates or provides them with any services, with proven knowledge of that.
 
In this regard, Article (8) of the Law on Combating Illegal Immigration and Smuggling of Migrants stipulates that whoever prepares or manages a place to house smuggled migrants, collect them, transport them, or facilitate or provided them with any services with proof of his knowledge of that, shall be punished by imprisonment and a fine of not less than two hundred thousand pounds and not exceeding five hundred thousand pounds.
 
The law aims to confront the phenomenon of illegal immigration and work to address it in accordance with the international frameworks issued in this regard by tightening some of the penalties prescribed for violators to be commensurate with the size of the crimes committed, in a way that achieves the idea of deterrence desired from it at the public and private levels, and in line with objectives of the national strategy to combat illegal immigration.
