Egypt, US hold talks on disarmament

CAIRO – 12 May 2023: Assistant Foreign Minister for multiparty and international security affairs Ehab Badawy discussed with US Assistant Secretary for Arms Control, Verification and Compliance, Mallory Stewart, international efforts on disarmament and arms control.

 

The Foreign Ministry said on Friday that the talks are part of the visit of Stewart and her accompanying delegation to Cairo.

 

The talks focused on disarmament and the non-proliferation of nuclear weapons, said the statement citing Egypt’s great efforts on that score.

 

Both sides reviewed means to counter armament race related to communication and information technology systems.

 

They also discussed their visions on arms control in light of the recent international developments and conflicts.
