CAIRO – 9 May 2023:  Egypt’s Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry, said that the fast-developing events in Sudan, in light of the continuation of military operations, and its repercussions on the Sudanese people, and neighboring countries, including Egypt and Chad, requires ‘intense and continues interaction’.

He added, in televised statements that President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi directed to intensify the communications and efforts with all of the world leaders seeking to reach a cease-fire, and start a peaceful dialogue that aims to return to stability in Sudan.

He added that president Sisi was also keen to involve neighboring countries, including Chad and South Sudan, in light of the historical relations that bind Egypt with the two countries, in consultations regarding the developing situation in Sudan.

Shoukry, also revealed that many Sudanese have taken refuge at the Egyptian southern borders to escape the military conflict and violence.

He confirmed that there is ‘European recognition’ of Egypt's responsibility and commitment towards its brothers in Sudan, South Sudan and Africa.
