Cairo - 7 May 2023: Arab foreign ministers Sunday held here a consultative meeting preceding the three extraordinary and urgent sessions of the Arab League (AL) Council at the level of foreign ministers to review the updates in Syria, Sudan and Palestine, which are set to take lace later in the day.


Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry, the current president of the AL council's session, will chair the three extraordinary meetings. AL Secretary General Ahmed Abul Gheit will be present at the three meetings.

During the consultative meeting, the foreign ministers took up the agenda of the three urgent meetings.

On Saturday, the AL council convened at the level of permanent delegates , under Egypt, at the premises of the AL General Secretariat, to prepare for Sunday's meetings. 

Throughout the past period, a number of meetings have been held among the Arab foreign ministers to address the situation in Syria, which has suspended its AL activities since the year 2011.

Th AL council's extraordinary session will discuss the developments of the Palestinian cause as well the continued Israeli violations, including the fierce and systematic provocations carried out by the Israeli occupation authorities in Al Quds city and at Al Aqsa mosque compound, said Palestine's Permanent Representative to the AL Ambassador Muhannad al Aklouk in statements on Sunday.
