CAIRO – 28 April 2023: Egyptian Foreign Ministry Sameh Shoukry will receive Dafallah Al-Haj Ali, the Special Envoy of the President of the Sudanese Sovereignty Council, in Cairo on Saturday at 16:30 pm (Cairo Time), announced the Egyptian Foreign Ministry in a statement on Friday.

Egypt does not believe that a military solution in Sudan is possible, Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry told his British counterpart Thursday.

U.K. Foreign Secretary James Cleverly made a phone call Shoukry to consult on the situation in Sudan. Shoukry called for preserving state institutions and supporting international efforts to extend the armistice and return to dialogue.

Since the clashes started between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) last week, Egypt has been calling for consolidating a ceasefire in Sudan and ending hostilities.

Coincidently, Egypt has stepped up its evacuation efforts in Sudan as it managed to evacuate more than 16,000 people, including Egyptians and other nationals, according to a statement from the Egyptian Foreign Ministry on Thursday.
