Egypt to participate in Petersberg Climate Dialogue in May, German Foreign Ministry

CAIRO – 27 April 2023: The German Foreign Ministry announced that Berlin will host the Petersberg Climate Dialogue on May 2-3 with the participation of Egypt and the UAE.

In a press release on Thursday, the ministry said the conference is organized by Germany and the UAE and that the later will host the COP28.

The inauguration of the conference will include speeches by United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres, German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock, Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry, Sultan al Jaber, COP28 President-Designate and UAE's Special Envoy for Climate Change and German Economy Minister Robert Habeck.

In November 2022, Egypt hosted the UN conference on climate change, COP27 in Sharm El Sheikh city and presidents, leaders and representatives of 200 countries attended the event.

The Petersberg Climate Dialogue has been organized by Germany since 2009.
