CAIRO - 25 April 2023: The Egyptian Building Law obliges each governorate to establish a general department for planning and urban development, which within its administrative scope undertakes the preparation of detailed plans in accordance with the planning and construction requirements for the different land use and the programs and priorities of integrated development projects.
 
The specialized engineering and consulting agencies and offices registered with the General Authority for Urban Planning, all under the supervision of the regional center of the General Authority for Urban Planning for the province’s territory in accordance with the rules and procedures specified by the executive regulations of this law.
 
The General Authority for Urban Planning prepares strategic plans for national and regional urban development and governorate plans, according to planning and development studies, taking into account the military point of view and the requirements and safety of state defense.
 
The business guides for the urban plans prepared by the General Authority for Urban Planning specify the methods, rates, and criteria for preparing and following up the realization of these plans.
 
The strategic plans for national, regional, and governorate urban development are approved by the Supreme Council for Planning and Urban Development, based on the proposal of the competent minister, and the approval decision is published in the Egyptian Gazette.
