Japanese PM to visit Egypt as part of 4-leg tour in Africa

CAIRO - 11 April 2023: Japanese Chief Cabinet Secretary Hirokazu Matsuno said on Tuesday that Prime Minister Fumio Kishida will visit Egypt, Ghana, Kenya and Mozambique starting from late April until early May, Reuters reported.

 

The visit comes weeks before Japan hosts a summit of the Group of Seven nations.

 

The Egyptian ambassador to Tokyo, Mohamed Abu Bakr, participated in the breakfast banquet hosted by Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida at his residence for the heads of Islamic diplomatic missions in Japan, for the first time in four years after a halt due to the spread of "Corona virus".

 

The gathering was in the presence of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Japanese "Yoshimasa Hayashi" and senior officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in addition to a number of parliamentarians and representatives of Islamic organizations.

 

During his speech on this occasion, Kishida stressed the need to strengthen cooperation relations between Japan and the Islamic world, pointing to the need for tolerance and pushing the efforts of the international community towards resolving conflicts by peaceful means.

 

The Japanese Prime Minister added that the international community stands at a historical turning point at the present moment, which makes everyone required now more than ever to lead the international community in the direction of cooperation instead of division and conflict, explaining that the values of reconciliation and tolerance adopted by Japan and Islamic countries have become more important.
