CAIRO – 11 April 2023: An Egyptian official, who spoke Tuesday on condition of anonymity to Al Qahera News, denied information reported by the Washington Post that Egypt had produced 40,000 missiles that would be shipped secretly to Russia.

The publication cited an alleged leaked U.S. intelligence document, which was described by the Egyptian official as groundless informational futility. He added that Egypt adopts a balanced policy when dealing with all international parties, and that the framework of that policy is peace, stability, and development.

In December, Former Presidential Spokesman Bassam Rady said in a reply to a comment on his Facebook page about Egypt’s position on Russia, China, and the United States, that Egypt has friendship relations with all countries of the world.

Egypt has balanced relations with all countries of the world that are based on mutual respect, constructive cooperation, joint interests, and non-intervention in the internal affairs, Rady added.

The spokesman said the same position applies to the current crisis between Russia and Ukraine.

“Egypt is connected by very good relations to all parties of the crisis, whether they are direct, which are Russia, Ukraine and NATO countries, or indirect, which are European countries, the European Union, and the US,” the spokesman said.

Egypt has been calling for an end to the Russia-Ukraine war through peaceful political means.
