Egypt's transport minister, French ambassador discuss financing of 6th Metro Line

CAIRO – 3 April 2023: Minister of Transport Kamel al-Wazir and French Ambassador to Egypt Marc Barety discussed Sunday the financing, feasibility studies, and design of Greater Cairo's prospective sixth metro line.

 

The meeting also tackled the progress rate of the monorail, which is being executed by a coalition composed of Alstom, Orascom, and Arab Contractors. Other partnerships include the operation of the third metro line and the LRT by RATP, and that of the multipurpose station at the Port of Alexandria by CMA.   

 

The other projects financed by France are a railway line extending from Robeiky Industrial City to Sharqia's Belbeis through the 10th of Ramadan City; another connecting Tanta, Mansoura, and Damietta together; Greater Cairo's third metro line; Alexandria's Raml Tramway; electrification of Abou Qir Railway Line; development of the first and second metro lines; and purchase of 55 air-conditioned trains for the first metro line.
