CAIRO - 3 April 2023: The Ministry of Health has issued guidelines to benefit from the initiative to eliminate waiting lists of critical surgeries.

If the patient has health insurance, he should go to the nearest health insurance committee.

- If he does not have health insurance, he should go to the nearest governmental hospital.

He is examined and his case is presented to a specialized committee to make a decision.

- After the examination, the hospital communicates with the patient to set a date for the examination and the operation.

The Ministry of Health said the initiative includes the following surgeries: heart, bones, ophthalmia, tumors, cerebral catheters, heart catheterization, brain and nerves, kidney transplantation, liver transplantation, and cochlear implantation. Patients are distributed to hospitals included in the initiative to ensure that they receive medical service as quickly as possible.

President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi’s  initiative to end waiting lists are completely free; the patient does not bear any financial burdens. The initiative is launched to alleviate the suffering of those who cannot afford medical expenses, and to perform urgent and critical surgeries as soon as possible.
