Egypt’s President Sisi discusses regional, int’l issues with defense minister, army commanders

CAIRO – 1 April 2023: Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi discussed local, regional, and international issues with Defense Minister Mohamed Zaki and Armed Forces’ commanders on Friday, the Egyptian Presidency said in a statement.

The meeting was held on the anniversary of the 10th of Ramadan victories, the Hijri date of the 6th of October War Victory by Egyptian Armed Forces against Israelis in 1973.

The meeting discussed key issues addressed across the local, regional and international levels, especially amid the successive political and economic developments across the world, as well as Egypt's ongoing efforts to reinforce stability and development in the region, the statement said.

The president extended his greetings to the Armed Forces on the anniversary of the war victory, stressing that the Egyptian people appreciate the efforts and sacrifices made by the heroes of the Armed Forces to defend the country’s security and safety.

Sisi also praised the men of the Armed Forces as an extension of the October War generation in carrying out their duties with the highest levels of dedication, devotion, loyalty and efficiency for the sake of maintaining the homeland’s security, preserving its sanctities and enhancing its path towards more stability and progress.

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, Minister of Defense and Military Production Mohamed Zaki, and Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces Osama Askar attended the meeting.

The meeting was also attended by a number of senior statesmen, the commanders of the main branches of the Armed Forces, Armed Forces’ commanders, and scholars from Al Azhar and the Ministry of Religious Endowments.
