Egypt’s FM, new Algerian counterpart discuss bilateral ties

CAIRO – 23 March 2023: Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry made a phone call, on Wednesday, with his new Algerian counterpart Ahmed Ataf, announced the Egyptian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Ahmed Abu Zeid said in a statement.

 

 

Shoukry congratulated the Algerian Foreign Minister on assuming his new position following the recent cabinet reshuffle, wishing him success in his new mission, Abu Zeid added.

 

 

The two ministers stressed the importance of the distinguished relations between Egypt and Algeria, and the importance of developing these relations in various bilateral fields, upon directives given by the presidents of both countries, Abu Zeid said.

 

 

In June 2022, Egypt and Algeria signed 13 cooperation agreements and memorandums of understanding during the Higher Egyptian-Algerian Committee.

 

 

The cooperation deals and memos covered the fields of industry, trade, endowments, water resources management, higher education, scientific research, small and medium-sized enterprises, bourse, investments, and exports.

 

 

A memorandum of understanding was also signed between the Egyptian and Algerian institutes for diplomatic studies.
