Queen of Belgium, Duchess of Brabant arrive in Luxor to visit monuments

CAIRO - 15 March 2023: Luxor Governorate received Her Majesty Queen Matilda of Belgium, and Princess Elisabeth, Duchess of Brabant Province in Belgium, to organize a tourist trip and schedule visits to ancient Egyptian temples and tombs in the eastern and western sides of the city, to enjoy the charm of the Pharaonic civilization in Luxor.
 
Queen Matilda of Belgium, and Her Royal Highness Princess Elisabeth, Duchess of Brabant Province in Belgium, arrived at the historic Winter Palace Hotel in the Nile Corniche in Luxor, where Queen Elizabeth resided during her visit to Egypt in 1923. 
 
It is scheduled to organize archaeological and tourist tours in the same areas visited by the Queen Elizabeth and also visits to the tomb of King Tutankhamun.
 
On Tuesday, Queen of Belgium inaugurated, a temporary exhibition of photographs at Baron Empain Palace in Heliopolis, under the title "1923-2023: Queen Elizabeth of Belgium - in Egypt", as she was accompanied by Ahmed Eissa, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities. 
 
The exhibition was part of the celebration of the 100th anniversary of The visit of Queen Elisabeth of Belgium and her son, Crown Prince Leopold, to Egypt to attend the official opening of the tomb of the golden king Tutankhamun in February 1923.
 
This exhibition is held under the auspices of the Belgian Royal Palace and the Embassy of Belgium in Cairo and in cooperation with the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities.  
 
Ahmed Issa received Her Majesty the Queen of Belgium and Her Royal Highness Princess Duchess of Brabant at the Baron Empain Palace, and delivered a welcome speech, during which he expressed his happiness at welcoming Her Majesty the Queen and Her Royal Highness to Egypt, especially in this magnificent palace "Baron Empain Palace", which confirms On the Egyptian-Belgian relations between Egypt and Belgium, as it was built by the Belgian engineer Edward Empain.
