CAIRO - 9 March 2023: Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry, on Thursday, met with his Kenyan counterpart Dr. Alfred N. Mutua, who is on an official two-day visit to Cairo, the Egyptian ministry’s spokesperson Ahmed Abu Zeid tweeted.

"They discussed ways of enhancing bilateral relations between the two countries, as exploring new areas of cooperation comes on top of both sides’ priorities," Abu Zeid continued.

The Kenyan foreign minister arrived in Cairo Wednesday evening and was received by Ambassador Ahmed Mostafa, deputy assistant minister for foreign affairs.

In mid-February, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received a message from his Kenyan counterpart William Ruto on boosting bilateral relations in all domains.

Presidential Spokesman Ahmed Fahmi said the message was handed to President Sisi by Kenyan Trade, Investment and Industry Minister Moses Kiarie Kuria.

The message also included a request for Egypt's support to Kenyan endeavors to activate the African Continental Free Trade Area Agreement among the COMESA, the East African Community and South Africa economic groupings, especially that Egypt came among the earliest countries to support the agreement.

“The trade exchange between the two countries is increasing, having reached nearly $550 million in 2021,” the Egyptian state-owned news agency MENA reported Minister of Trade and Industry Ahmed Samir on December 21, 2022.

"Earlier on the same day, Shoukry met with his  Armenian counterpart Ararat Mirzoyan at the ministry's headquarters downtown Cairo," stated Abu Zeid on Twitter.

"Both ministers discussed the long historical relations between the two countries, and their bilateral cooperation in many fields," added Abu Zeid.
