CAIRO - 6 March 2023: In light of the negative impact of climate changes on countries around the world, Egypt launched presidential initiative for afforestation titled “100 million trees”, as part of its comprehensive plan to achieve sustainable development, in order to provide a clean, healthy and safe environment for the Egyptian citizen.
 
Port Said Governorate has taken first positive and effective steps to implement the initiative that achieves its goals in the various districts of the governorate, planting 2,000 trees in schools and gardens. 
 
 
The most important goals of the presidential initiative "100 million trees" are to increase the green area nationwide, especially since it has many environmental, economic and social returns, in addition to dealing with the climate file and find solutions to face the negative repercussions of climate change on various aspects of life from a global perspective.
 
 
 
Planting 2000 trees in Al-Manakh district
 
 
In the Al-Manakh neighborhood, one of the oldest neighborhoods in Port Said Governorate, the initiative was implemented at schools, and the fruit trees were planted with the participation of students in 17 schools in the Al-Manakh district so far.  
 
The head of Al-Manakh district, students of a number of schools and district workers participated in planting trees as part of the initiative's activities; where the initiative was launched by planting Knocarpus trees (plant wall trees). 
 
The initiative comes under the auspices of President El-Sisi and Major General Adel Al-Ghadban, Governor of Port Said, and after Port Said Governorate received 70,000 trees in the past few years as part of the presidential initiative "100 Million Trees", and in line with the plan to develop and raise the efficiency of parks, green spaces and central islands in the streets of the neighborhood, and within the framework of caring for appearance.  
 
The Manakh district in Port Said governorate, headed by Dr. Mansour Bakry, witnessed the launch of the activities of the presidential initiative "100 Million Trees" and the start of planting 2,000 trees in schools, gardens, streets, ponds and green spaces within the neighborhood.
 
 
 
Implementation of the initiative in the suburbs district
 
 
Hala Ahmed Abul-Ezz, Head of the Dawahy District in Port Said Governorate, witnessed the inauguration of the presidential initiative to plant "100 million trees" on Nahdet Misr Street in the neighborhood, in the presence of a number of citizens and young children, whom the district chief was keen to participate in to enhance community participation in the implementation of the initiative's activities and teach young people to contribute to Beautification of streets and squares.
 
This is as one of the goals of the initiative to spread awareness of the importance of increasing green spaces and spreading green color in various areas of the neighborhood, with the aim of improving air quality, reducing the risks of global warming, preserving the public health of citizens and increasing the green area.
 
The district head launched the initiative to plant 350 of these fruit trees along Nahdet Misr Street, which include olive trees, oranges, pomegranates, tangerines, lemons, and guavas, in addition to a number of flowering trees provided by the Ministry of Military Production.
