CAIRO – 2 March 2023: Egyptian Minister of Environment and COP27 Climate Conference Envoy Yassmine Fouad virtually met with her Jordanian counterpart Moawiya Khaled Al-Radaydah, to discuss the Jordanian initiative that aims to interconnect the crisis of refugees with climate change impacts.

The meeting tackled ways of presenting this initiative in the upcoming climate change conference COP28 due to convene in Dubai, according to a statement from the Egyptian Ministry of Environment on Thursday.

"Fouad shed light on elements of climate asylum, and climate change-related wars and conflicts," the statement said, noting that the Jordanian minister stated that the objective of launching the initiative is to prioritize countries that suffer from the consequences of climate change and the influx of refugees alike.

The Jordanian minister of environment also expressed his aspiration to cooperate with Cairo in the field of national reserves, the statement continued.
