Egypt, Zambia discuss bilateral relations, counter-terrorism in southern African region

CAIRO – 17 February 2023: Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry met Zambian Minister of Foreign Affairs Stanley Kasongo Kakubo, on the sidelines of the 42nd session of the Executive Council of the African Union.

 

 

The two ministers discussed ways of strengthening bilateral cooperation, especially at the economic level and attracting investments, said Egyptian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Ahmed Au Zeid in a statement on Friday.

 

 

They also reviewed the existing cooperation between the two countries in the agricultural field through the two joint farms between Egypt and Zambia, which represent a model for the transfer of distinguished Egyptian expertise in agriculture, Abu Zeid continued.

 

 

Shoukry expressed Egypt's welcome to coordinate with Zambia within the framework of the COMESA assembly, taking into account the current Egyptian presidency of the assembly and Zambia's assumption of its next presidency, the spokesperson added.

 

 

From his part, the Zambia Foreign Minister was keen to consult with Minister Shoukry about the regional situation in the southern African region, especially the situation in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo and efforts to combat terrorism in Mozambique.
