CAIRO – 17 July 2017: A British security delegation inspected security measures being conducted at the Cairo International Airport on Monday, starting from the passenger’s departure from the terminal until the boarding an aircraft.

The delegation also assessed security measures on trips heading to the UK and means of securing packages in the airport’s Cargo Village.

The British security delegation is expected to continue inspections on Tuesday on some security check points related to securing the travelling of passengers. They will also hold a meeting with the leadership of the Aviation Ministry.

A number of European airlines have banned flights to Egypt and Sharm El-Sheikh city over security concerns following an October 2015 crash of a Russian aircraft in the Sinai that resulted in the death of all 224 people on board.

In June 2015, British Airways announced that it would indefinitely extend its suspension of flights to Sharm El-Sheikh.
