CAIRO – 12 February 2023: The Ministry of Health and Population underscored in a press statement Sunday that the country has 832 healthcare units offering their services almost free of charge to around 552,000 citizens aged above 65.

Those units are dispersed among 21 governorates, and specialized in family medicine. The services offered to senior citizens are pertinent to diabetes, hypertension, heart diseases, kidney malfunction, digestive diseases, anemia, obesity, nutrition, and mental health.

The units also have clinics that are specialized in ophthalmology and dentistry. Every patient is given a follow-up card, as they are urged to turn up twice per year. If advanced medical interventions are needed, the patient is referred to the nearest hospital.
