Palestinian President to arrive in Egypt Saturday

CAIRO – 10 February 2023:  Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas will arrive in Cairo, on Saturday, to participate in the conference in support of Jerusalem, which will be held on Sunday at the headquarters of the Arab League, amid high-level Arab, regional, and international representation, announced Palestinian Ambassador to Egypt Diab Al-Louh in a statement on Friday.

 

“The President's participation in the conference's activities aims to confront the practices of the Israeli occupation forces in light of the fierce targeting of the city of Jerusalem and its Islamic and Christian holy sites and the Jerusalemites therein, with the increase in the pace of Judaization, foremost of which is the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, especially after the formation of the far-right government that aims to destroy a solution tof he two states,” the statement read.

 

The conference will shed light on the suffering of the people of Jerusalem and their defense of their right to life on their land and to highlight their steadfastness, and to try to provide more Arab and institutional support for development and investment in the city of Jerusalem to enhance the steadfastness of the Jerusalemites through financing investment development projects in the sectors of health, education, housing and empowerment of women.

 

It will also to focus on submitting a proposal to establish an Arab voluntary fund in which member states, Arab funds, the private sector and Arab development agencies contribute to support small and medium enterprises in the city of Jerusalem, and to form a legal committee of Arab legal experts to follow up on the crimes of the Israeli occupation against the Palestinian people before international courts, the statement continued.
