CAIRO – 5 February 2023: Minister of Social Solidarity Nevine al-Qabaj noted Sunday before the Senate's plenary session that a national committee, consisting of members of 14 ministries, had been formed to accelerate the issuance of licenses for nurseries.

The minister stated that Egypt has 14,800 licenses nurseries, and 12,000 others that are unlicensed. Qabaj stressed that not all of those would be given licenses as some do not meet the criteria set to ensure the safety and wellness of children.

The ministry is implementing a programme dubbed "Early Childhood Development," and it is concerned with nurseries targeted at children aged between one day and four years. Since its launching in 2016, the number of classrooms renovated has hit 3,700, while 4,750 facilitators have been trained.
