CAIRO – 6 February 2023: Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and his spouse Entissar El Sisi received on Monday Croatian President Zoran Milanović and his wife at El-Ittihadiya Palace.

Upon the Croatian president's arrival at the presidential palace, an official reception was held and the national anthem was played.

The two officials are scheduled to hold a joint talks session.

Milanović visited on Sunday the Croatian Memorial Cemetery of World War II refugees in Suez's El Shatt, where he laid a wreath and lit a candle in memory of 850 Croatian refugees who were buried here during their exile.

By visiting the memorial cemetery in El Shatt, Milanović began an official visit to Egypt, where he arrived with his wife Sanju Musić Milanović.

The Croatian memorial cemetery is located on the site of the El Shatt refugee camp, where almost 25,000 Croatian refugees were housed after being evacuated to Egypt during the Second World War and spent 18 months there.

After visiting the Memorial Cemetery, Milanović met with Suez Governor Abdel Majid Saqr.
