UNSMIL chief calls for finalizing constitutional basis for elections in Libya

CAIRO - 15 January 2023: Head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) Abdoulaye Bathily called for rapidly finalizing the constitutional basis and electoral laws for holding fair elections that end the political crisis in the country.

Bathily's call came during his meeting on Friday with the Head of Libya's Higher Council of State Khaled Al-Mishri in Tripoli, reported the Libyan News Agency (LANA)

During the meeting, the two sides reviewed the recent meetings held between the speaker of the House of Representatives and the head of the Higher Council of State to finalize the constitutional base necessary for holding parliamentary and presidential elections.
