Sisi at Cathedral of Nativity of Christ: Our love for each other must continue without discrimination

CAIRO – 6 January 2023: Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah al Sisi Congratulated Egyptians on Christmas during visiting the Cathedral of Nativity of Christ in the New Administrative Capital.

In a short speech, Sisi wished the whole world peace and security.

Sisi praised Pope Tawadros wisdom saying: “all respect, and appreciation for Pope Tawadros, you all don't know how much love and appreciation i have for him.”

He added that: “our love for each other must continue without discrimination, this must be ingrained in our souls and in all generations. We are one.”

Sisi noted that: “People in Egypt are worried, and this is justified; however, you should all rest assured that we don't hide anything from you.”

“Please, don’t be afraid. Firstly, because we have faith in God, and secondly because we are taking good steps, even if we were suffering little bit” Sisi said.

He added that “the world will change due to the Russian-Ukrainian war, everything will change especially economically”.

 

Sisi also urged Egyptians not to listen to rumors. “I talk to you always in different occasions to keep you informed with everything"

Sisi arrived on Friday at Cathedral of Nativity of Christ to congratulate Egyptians on Christmas.

The president shook hands with Coptic Egyptians at the Cathedral and welcomed him warmly.

Pope Tawadros II of Alexandria and Patriarch of St. Mark Diocese led on Friday the Christmas mass at the Cathedral of the Nativity of Christ in the New Administrative Capital with the participation of a number of bishops, priests and monks.

Senior state officials and governors also attended the mass along with a number of diplomats, MPs, senators and public figures.

The pope made his way toward the main altar, processing with hundreds of concelebrants as the sounds of the Christmas hymns echoed inside the cathedral.

The Cathedral of the Nativity of Christ is a Coptic Orthodox cathedral in the New Administrative Capital, Egypt, some 45 km east of Cairo. It was commissioned by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and inaugurated on January, 6, 2019, by him and Pope Tawadros. It is the largest church in the Middle East, and the largest Oriental Orthodox church in the world by area.
