CAIRO - 4 January 2023: The Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population confirmed that the epidemiological situation of Corona is stable, and no new mutants of the virus have been detected that pose a danger.

The ministry noted that winter is the most active season for viruses that infect the respiratory system, stressing the importance of obtaining vaccines such as Corona, influenza and pneumococcal vaccines.

Dr. Hossam Hosni, head of the scientific committee to combat corona at the Ministry of Health and Population, said that the epidemiological situation is completely stable, and no new mutants of the virus have been detected, and the new mutant appeared in China has not been detected in Egypt until now.

He said that there is a great expansion in vaccinations for corona and influenza, which contributes to the blockade of the virus, adding "that the recently detected mutants are rapidly spreading, but less dangerous."

Dr. Hossam Hosni, head of the Supreme Committee to Combat Corona at the Ministry of Health and Population, explained that 18% of the Corona virus in China and America had the “Omicron” mutation, but the symptoms are less, and the respiratory system and intensive care are infected and do not lead to pneumonia.

Dr. Hossam Hosni, head of the Supreme Committee for Combating Corona at the Ministry of Health and Population, added: Citizens must obtain vaccines because there is activity for the virus at the beginning of winter, and whoever exceeds it 6 months ago must obtain a stimulus dose of the Corona vaccine, but there is no need to panic with the new variant.

New Mutant Chaos in China

Health experts have warned that the chaos in China over the new Corona mutant  “doomsday” could bring the world back to square one in combating the epidemic, according to the British newspaper Daily Mail.

As COVID-19 infections surge in China, coronavirus experts gathered at the World Health Organization (WHO) on Tuesday to discuss next steps, the UN health agency revealed in a press release.

The symptoms of the "doomsday" mutant that sparked panic in the world, especially as it is a rapidly spreading variant, starting from 5 days and end with 7 days of infection.

Forecasts indicate that up to a million people may die in the coming months, and experts have warned that this may lead to the emergence of a new strain and its spread globally.

Experts emphasized that the mutant is not a source of concern, because it is a sub-mutant of Omicron, noting that the new mutant has no disturbing effects and its deaths are minimal, although it is rapidly spreading.

They added that the doomsday mutant attacks the respiratory system less than others, but it has the ability to spread widely, according to information received from China and official websites.
