CAIRO – 2 January 2023: The Egyptian Cabinet has announced next Sunday, 8th of January, a paid holiday for employees of the public and private sector to celebrate Christmas instead of Saturday.

The decision applies to workers in the ministries, governmental facilities, public authorities, local administration units, public sector companies, public enterprise sector, and the private sector, a statement by the Cabinet read on Monday.

However, exams will continue as scheduled.

Spokesman for the Coptic Orthodox Church Moussa Ibrahim has announced that the Christmas mass will be held in the New Administrative Capital (NAC)'s Cathedral of the Birth of the Christ.

The services will be held on Friday night, the 6th of January, and led by Pope Tawadros II of Alexandria and Patriarch of St. Mark Diocese.

Invitations will be sent to those who will attend the mass on condition that they declare their personal data and IDs, said the spokesman, adding that those who have no invitations will not be allowed.

The church will open its doors at 5:00 pm, he noted.
