Egypt ranks 26th globally in international publishing for year 2021

CAIRO - 2 January 2023: Egypt ranked 26th in the world in the field of international publishing for the  among 232 countries in the top 11.2% of the list of world countries for the year 2021.
 
In 2020, Egypt ranked the 28th place in 2020, according to the report issued by the international organization SCImago in April 2022.
 
Egypt has witnessed remarkable progress in the classification of its research centers and organizations globally compared to last year, in addition to the entry of research centers that were not in the Simago classification last year, according to the report issued by the Simago Authority for the year 2022 regarding the classification of research institutions worldwide, including universities, centers and agencies.
 
The National Research Center achieved the position (546) during the current year compared to (629) last year, and it still occupies the first place in Egypt among research centers and bodies, pointing out that the National Institute of Marine Sciences and Fisheries achieved this year the position (647), compared to (759) last year, followed by the Petroleum Research Institute ranked (657) this year compared to (713) last year, followed by the Metallurgical Research and Development Center in the position (714) compared to the rank (774) last year, then the Research Institute ranked Electronics ranked (720) this year compared to (821) last year, and the National Institute for Astronomical and Geophysical Research ranked (773) this year compared to (864) last year.
 
Dr. Yasser Refaat, Deputy Minister for Scientific Research Affairs, pointed out that the City of Scientific Research and Technological Applications appeared for the first time in the Simago classification in the field of international publishing this year 2022, and achieved the position (639) globally, explaining the inclusion of the National Institute for Calibration this year in the classification, and its arrival in the ranking ( 765) globally, adding that the report on the classification of countries is scheduled to be issued soon, at the end of this year.
 
Dr. Yasser Refaat explained that (70) Egyptian universities and research centers were included in the Simago classification for the year 2022, indicating that they came in centers from (456) to (773) out of a total of (8084) university and research institutions included in the classification.
 
The Egyptian research centers occupy 18% of the total Arab university and research institutions in this classification, and they occupy 22% of the total African university and research institutions in this classification.
