Orthodox church to hold Christmas mass at New Administrative Capital Cathedral

CAIRO – 27 December 2022: Spokesman for the Coptic Orthodox Church Moussa Ibrahim announced Tuesday the procedures and preparations for holding the Christmas mass at the New Administrative Capital (NAC)'s Cathedral of the Birth of the Christ.

The services will be held on Friday night Dec 6 and led by Pope Tawadros II of Alexandria and Patriarch of St. Mark Diocese.

Invitations will be sent to those who will attend the mass on condition that they declare their personal data and IDs, said the spokesman, adding that those who have no invitations will not be allowed.

The church will open its doors at 5:00 pm, he added.

Egypt’s Coptic Catholic Churches celebrated Christmas according to the Western calendar, Sunday as the churches held masses all over the country with the participation of church leaders, and the presence of representatives of the President, along with several officials, ministers and public figures.

Patriarch of Alexandria Ibrahim Isaac presided over the Christmas Mass at the Cathedral of the Blessed Virgin Mary, in Nasr City.

Delivering a speech, Isaac greeted the Egyptian people on the occasion of Christmas, congratulating Egypt on holding the UN COP27

He prayed for Egypt and President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, wishing him health.

Pontiffs, statesmen, representatives of Al Azhar and public figures attended the mass.
