CAIRO - 27 December 2022: Assistant Arab League Secretary General Hossam Zaki said the Arab League backs all efforts to achieve unity, stability and prosperity for the Libyan people.

This came in statements to reporters following Head of the Libyan Presidential Council Mohamed al-Menfi's visit to AL premises and his meeting with AL Secretary General Ahmed Abul Gheit and the AL permanent delegates.

Amb. Zaki lauded genuine efforts exerted by the Libyan Presidential Council to heal the rift in Libya, underlining that the ideas that were put forward by the Council's president during his meeting with the AL secretary general and the permanent delegates flow in one direction, which is how to settle the current controversial points that prevent achieving progress in the political situation, holding elections in Libya and ending the transitional period.

During their meeting, Abul Gheit promised the Head of the Libyan Presidential Council that the Arab League would stand up for all attempts to achieve unity, stability and prosperity for the people of Libya, Zaki further noted.

Arab League (AL) Secretary General Ahmed Abul Gheit received on Tuesday Head of Libyan Presidential Council Mohamed al Menfi where they discussed the latest developments in the Libyan crisis and efforts exerted to solve it.

Abul Gheit will hold an extended meeting with Menfi and his accompanying delegation in the presence of permanent AL representatives.
