CAIRO – 22 December 2022: President Abdel Fattah El Sisi directed the government to increase the search and exploration activities to optimize the country's resources and bolster the reserves of natural gas to meet the local market’s needs, said Egyptian Presidential Spokesperson Bassam Rady.

 

The state’s investment plans for research and exploration until 2025 in the eastern and western regions of the Mediterranean in cooperation with major energy companies have been reviewed, Rady said, noting that the total investment is estimated at about $2.1 billion.

 

Also, the president directed the Ministry of Petroleum to accelerate implementing the project of Sodium carbonate, Na₂CO₃, Complex in the new city of El Alamein. Rady continued.

 

The complex is being established in cooperation with private sector with a total investment of about $500 million, Rady said.
