CAIRO – 19 December 2022: Egypt’s House of Representatives special committees will discuss a number of proposals and bills that relate to people’s daily lives and the government’s performance in several sectors.

 

According to the parliament’s agenda, the parliamentary Planning and Budget Committee will review the final account budget of the Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade - the General Authority for Supply Commodities for the fiscal year 2021/2022.

 

The Projects Committee of the parliament will consider requests for briefing regarding the exaggeration in pricing some pieces of land in the Margham region - Alexandria Governorate, which threatens existing factories with closure. The lands are not including in the Prime Minister's decision to price industrial lands to be affordable for investors.

 

As for the Committee of Energy and Environment will review the gains and results achieved after hosting the Climate Change Conference (Cop 27) in Egypt’s Sharm El Sheikh city, in the presence of Dr. Yasmine Fouad, Minister of Environment.

 

The Agriculture Committee will consider requests regarding the non-allocation of a share of irrigation water to the Umm Al-Rish Irrigation Al-Salam Canal of the Manzala Irrigation Department in the village of Al-Bayadiyah, Al-Qantara Center, west of Ismailia Governorate. It will also see the delay in finalizing the allocation of a plot of land owned by the General Authority For construction and agricultural development to build a technical secondary school to serve the people and children of about 120 villages in Beiheira governorate.

 

Education and Scientific Research Committee will discuss problems related to 30 June schools, which now affiliate with the Ministry of Education, after being affiliated to the banned group Muslim Brotherhood.

 

Religious Affairs Committee will consider requests regarding facilitating the procedures for allocating lands owned by Ministry of endowments for public benefit projects. The committee will tackle high prices of the land as not affordable for citizens.

 

In the presence of 2 Minister of Social Solidarity Neven El Kabbag, the Solidarity Committee will listen to the vision of the Ministry of Social Solidarity and review its plans in the coming period and follow up on what has been accomplished of the plans of the previous year. The committee also will to draw up a detailed map of all the bodies under the supervision of the Ministry, besides the strategy of the irregular workers.

 

The Media Committee will consider the steps taken by the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities towards establishing an antiquities museum in Banha, Qalyubia Governorate. It also will discuss a request for briefing regarding not exploiting archaeological sites in Sharkia Governorate to promote domestic tourism.

 

Meanwhile, the Tourism Committee will study the draft law submitted by the government regarding the issuance of a law establishing tourism chambers and organizing a federation for them.

 

The Health Affairs Committee will discuss the possibility of affiliation of the ambulance service in the comprehensive health insurance system and finding solutions that facilitate the patient’s transfer to hospitals properly.

 

In addition to this, the Transportation and Communications Committee will review requests to be updated on the recurrence of accidents on the railways in Al-Ayyat district, Giza Governorate, as a result of not constructing a bridge over the railway. The committee will also discuss the delay in the construction entrances along Mariouteya Road with the Ring Road Middle.

 

The Communications Committee will consider a request to question the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology about its plan to develop the infrastructure of landlines.

 

Local Administration Committee will discuss a request regarding the cessation of work in the industrial zone in Abu Khalifa Al-Qantara, west of Ismailia Governorate, for more than 15 years due to the rise in the groundwater level. The piece of land of the suspended work was allocated to establish the economic zone of the Suez Canal, including the Abu Khalifa industrial zone.

 

Meanwhile, the Human Rights Committee will discuss a proposal to debate the failure of establishing human rights units in the Ministry of Culture, in the presence of Dr. Naveen Al-Kilani, Minister of Culture.
