Resolving Palestinian issue is major step towards changing region’s tense conditions, Sisi

CAIRO – 15 December 2022: Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi said that resolving the Palestinian issue will constitute a giant step in the region's history and will completely change its tense reality; to begin a new stage of peace, cooperation, development and peaceful co-existence.

Sisi made the remarks as he met on Thursday with leaders of American Jewish organizations in the United States according to Presidential Spokesperson Bassam Rady.

Sisi asserted that Egypt will continue its backing for any sincere efforts that guarantees working out a fair and permanent solution to the Palestinian issue based on the international resolutions and terms of reference and the two-state solution in a way that guarantees the genuine rights of the Palestinians people.

Rady said that the meeting witnessed an agreement and an affirmation on the depth of strategic relations between Egypt and the US. The two sides asserted the importance of intensifying cooperation and coordination between the two countries regarding a set of international issues and files.

Leaders of the American Jewish organizations voiced their deep appreciation for Egypt's efforts under the leadership of Sisi towards establishing the principles of peace and calmness in the region, spreading the spirits of cooperation, combat of extremist thought, hatred speech and terrorism as well as adopting the development issues.

They also extended greetings to Sisi on the success of the UN Climate Summit which was recently held in Sharm El Sheikh.

President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi met Wednesday with U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin III at the Pentagon, expressing eagerness for reinforcing Egypt's strategic partnership with the United States, particularly in the realms of defense and security, in light of the exceptional circumstances experienced by the region and the world.

In that context, the two parties agreed on pushing forward the joint military relations, given they are the pillar of the U.S.-Egypt ties, and are essential to fulfill their duties pertaining to reinstating security and stability in the Middle East, according to the presidency's press statement.
