CAIRO – 15 December 2022: US President Joe Biden announced over $15 billion in two-way trade and investment commitments, deals, and partnerships with African countries “to advance shared priorities.”

 

“The US-Africa Business Forum is about connections and our shared future. Today, I announced over $15 billion in two-way trade and investment commitments, deals, and partnerships to advance shared priorities,” Biden took to Twitter, adding “Africa’s prosperity is essential to a better future for all of us.”

 

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi attended a dinner for African leaders participating in the "American-African" summit in Washington, which was held by US President Joe Biden, Youm7 reported on Wednesday.

 

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi arrived on Tuesday in Washington DC, to participate in the activities of the US-African Summit, according to Ambassador Ahmed Abu Zeid, spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

 

Abu Zeid stated that President Sisi intends to focus during the summit on issues of concern to African countries in light of the existing global challenges, to strengthen the African-American partnership to confront the food security crisis, and to facilitate the integration of African countries into the global economy.

 

President Sisi stressed Egypt's firm stand on protecting its water security under a legally binding deal regulating the filling and operation of The Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD), highlighting that Egypt depends on the Nile River as the main source of water.

 

During a meeting with members of the Republican Party of the US House of Representatives in Washington, Wednesday, the US Republican members underlined to president Sisi their deep understanding of Egypt's concerns and its stand regarding this sensitive issue that interferes with the Egyptian national security.
