CAIRO –16 July 2017: A diplomat working at the Russian Embassy in Cairo rejected that his bag to be inspected by security forces at the Cairo International Airport after a toy gun was found inside the bag, an official at the airport said on Sunday.

Before boarding on EgyptAir flight 771 bound to Geneva, the metal detector showed a gun in the diplomat’s bag. When the security forces asked the diplomat to open it for inspection, he refused.

Ambassador Ashraf Munir, Deputy Assistant of Foreign Minister for Passports, ordered the Russian diplomat to carry out the security instructions. He agreed to open the bag and a toy pistol was found inside. He was allowed to pass by and catch up with the plane.
