CAIRO – 11 December 2022: Egypt is completely free from polio, confirmed Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, spokesman for the Ministry of Health and Population, on Sunday.

 

The last case that had been recorded in Egypt was in 2004, he added in comments to TV satellite channel DMC, noting that the World Health Organization (WHO) declared in 2006 that Egypt was completely polio-free.

 

He added that the goal of ongoing vaccination campaigns launched by the Health Ministry nationwide against polio is to keep Egypt free from infection with the disease.

 

The current four-day campaign targets 16.5 million children aged from one day to five years, the spokesperson said, added that the campaign
