CAIRO - 6 December 2022: The Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population revealed that it has vaccinated more than 80 percent of the population, highlighting a great demand by citizens to receive the doses.

The Ministry of Health and Population said in a report that the influenza and corona vaccines are available at vaccination centers, adding that the treatment protocol for patients is available in more than 80 hospitals free of charge without any burdens.

Medicines are dispensed to patients free of charge according to a medical prescription from the attending physician, the ministry stressed.

Regarding the syncytial virus, the Ministry of Health and Population said that the epidemiological situation is very stable with regard to corona infections, adding that the number of registered cases infected with the syncytial virus has not exceeded 2,000 cases so far, adding that all infected people do not include deaths and most of the infections are among children aged below two years.

The Ministry of Health and Population indicated that there is strong surveillance in more than 27 hospitals in the Republic to detect accurate infections of respiratory diseases, including corona, syncytial virus, and influenza, in order to accurately diagnose cases that vary from simple to moderate in most respiratory infections.

The ministry also ensured that there are no new mutations, indicating that Omicron is still the most mutated.

Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, spokesman for the Ministry of Health, confirmed that the viral wave is not only spread in schools, but in homes as well, and it is a frequent spread that occurs in the fall and the beginning of winter, indicating that because of the spread of Covid, which was the strongest, it made people forget the other viral waves.

Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, spokesman for the Ministry of Health, added: We do not have anything different from what happens at this time every year, stressing that this spread is happening all over the world.

He pointed out that we had a similar wave in 2019, stressing that any viral wave has a beginning, an escalation, then a descent, and ends as soon as we enter the winter season.

He advised citizens to raise immunity, which is very important, through good ventilation, drinking fluids, wearing masks in crowded places, taking influenza vaccinations, and constantly disinfecting surfaces.

Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, spokesman for the Ministry of Health, added that one must go to the hospital if the temperature continues to rise for more than 3 days, adding that antibiotics should not be obtained when infected with the syncytial virus, stressing that immunity must be increased through healthy nutrition to confront the syncytial virus.

Dr. Hossam Hosni, head of the scientific committee to combat Corona, added that some countries in the world, including Egypt, have witnessed during the period from November 7 to November 13, an increase in the number of Corona virus, especially in Europe, Paris, Southeast Asia, and the eastern Mediterranean region, by 6% compared to the previous week.

He said that globally, the number of Corona deaths began to decrease by 23%, explaining that the death rate was 3 deaths in just one week, and he continued: We went through a Corona wave last June, and it was considered the sixth wave of Corona.

He said that some governorates witnessed an increase in corona infections in the past two weeks, namely Gharbia, Qalyubia, Port Said and the Red Sea, and all of them received treatment and fully recovered, and the only governorate that witnessed an increase in deaths was Dakahlia, explaining that it was a false increase because the injuries were zero and there was only one death.

Dr. Hossam Hosni said that 100% of Corona cases are for the Omicron mutant, but 55% of the cases are 2-BA.5, which is a subspecies of the Omicron mutant, and it is now the dominant strain of Corona worldwide, and the most transmissible mutator so far, according to Dr. Hossam Hosni. to the World Health Organization.
